In 2017 the Chester Beatty began an exciting digital transformation. Starting with the purchase of a state of the art medium format digital camera, the museum began its preparations to open a digitisation laboratory to support the imaging of the Chester Beatty Collections. Today our two digital photographers, together with a team of other museum experts, are hard at work photographing these wonderful collections, generating new catalogue records, and preparing these digital objects for online access. While it is a meticulous process it is our intention to ultimately, over time, create digital images of the entire Chester Beatty Collections and make them available online.
To support this exciting work, the Digital Department has developed a new online digital collections library to provide free and open access to all the wonders of the Chester Beatty Collections. We welcome you to browse to your hearts content, and make sure to come back as the online collections will continue to grow
