Ethiopia
The Ethiopian manuscripts in the collection are primarily written on parchment in the Christian liturgical language of Ge’ez, and are often beautifully illuminated. They include popular devotional works like the Miracles of Mary (Ta’amera Maryam), magic scrolls (amulets), printed books with early Amharic (Ethiopian) type and Jesuit travel accounts.
