Irish Harp Solo

Harpist Aisling Ennis returns to the Chester Beatty for a solo performance on the Irish Harp. Listen to beautiful traditional Irish music and a selection of poems to compliment the programme.

Violin performance

Daimee Ng (15), was fascinated with music since a very young age and begged her mother for a musical instrument. She was immediately taken by the violin and has been playing the instrument since she was three years old.

Daimee is a prize-winner and finalist of several international competitions, a member of the Young European Strings Chamber Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Ireland, enjoying both solo and chamber music work.

A self-confessed musical ‘mongrel’, Matthew Noone is an Australian-Irish ex-indie rocker, improviser, composer, thinker and performer of the 25 stringed lute called sarode.

Diwali Recital

To mark Diwali 2020, the Chester Beatty presents four musicians resident in Ireland. Each express a different aspect of Indian classical music or music inspired by India.

The performances include: Sudipto Das, Indian classical vocalist, Matthew Noone playing two tunes on the sarode, Rupak Pandik performs a virtuosic tabla solo while Dara O’Brien offers an experimental piece with sitar and voice, composed especially for Diwali.
