Friends Outing: Chester Beatty’s Weapons Collection at The Curragh Camp

The Friends of the Chester Beatty alongside our Director Fionnuala Croke, Dr. Mary Redfern and Dr. Moya Carey will travel to the Curragh Camp to see a unique collection of weapons presented by Sir Alfred Chester Beatty to the Defence Forces in 1952.The fearsome array of spears, daggers, and swords – collected from the native populations of the African and Asian continents. Many of the weapons are highly ornate and the collection represents one of the finest assemblies of exotic weaponry to be found anywhere in the world.
