Friends Outing: Highlanes Gallery Drogheda

The Highlanes Gallery is located in the former Franciscan Friary Church which was built in 1829 around an earlier Franciscan Foundation. The ancient friary was located about 100 meters away, though no trace remains todau. Highlanes Gallery which opened in 2006, is one of Ireland's most important visual art spaces. Serving the North East region, it presents a programme of nation and internation temporary exhibitions, as well as exhibitions drawn from the Drogheda Municipal Art Collection, a fascinating collection dating from the mid 18- century. The Friends of Chester Beatty will take a tour of Highlanes permanent collection and view the current temporary exhibition which will feature Kathy Tynan and Andrew Vickery. We we will then have lunch in Relish Cafe and Food Hall in the gallery.
