Live Online Workshop for Families: Tactile book of artefacts

Real-life objects will be a starting point for building our book of artefacts. Tales from the Chester Beatty’s will lead the way for us to explore textures and patterns to create tactile designs. Join us and create your own sensory book.

This workshop is specifically designed for children who are visually impaired, but it is inclusive to all.

Materials List:
-White or light-coloured card A3 X 3 (300gsm or thicker)
-Seeds (a bag of mixed seeds)
-Whatever coloured paints you might have (for the seeds, feel free to paint them in advance)
-Paint brush
-Thin/Fine black marker
-Glue stick or PVA glue
-Scissors (child-friendly)
-Envelope or zip bag
-Garden leaves, flowers, twigs
-Foam sheets/card (A packet of varying colours)
-Felt – any colours you like
-Ribbons or string
-Cotton wool
-A hole puncher
-Old clothes, accessories etc (be thinking patterns, fluff, painted coins and anything with interesting texture)

-And lastly you can look up other tactile books and pick things you would like to incorporate into your creation. The choice is yours!

Optional materials
-A piece of A3 cardboard for the cover (optional)
-Black Posca marker
-Lollypop Sticks
