These texts been instrumental in reconstructing this once thriving faith. Manichaeism was founded by the prophet Mani, who saw the world as a battle between good and evil. From its birth in 3rd-century Mesopotamia, the religion spread throughout the Mediterranean world, into northern India, and central and eastern Asia.
